At just 7 years old, Leticia James was abandoned by her parents, leaving her future uncertain. Concerned community members heard about the CDF Shelter and brought her to us, where she found a safe home, care, and the opportunity to attend school. Today, Leticia is in high school, continuing her education and building a brighter, more hopeful future.

Dementilia’s Story: From Despair to a New Beginning

As a teenager, Dementilia Saidia became pregnant and was rejected by both her boyfriend and family. Overwhelmed and without support, she attempted suicide but was rescued when someone cut the rope. After reading her story in a newspaper, CDF founder Carol Evelyn Nzogere welcomed her into the CDF Shelter. Seven months later, Dementilia gave birth to a baby boy, Victor. CDF later supported her to attend college and train in plumbing. Today, she is employed by Mwanza City Water Services—a remarkable journey from despair to dignity, skills, and independence.
